Job Interview Question: So What's Your Weakness?

Here is another common question I got from job interviews, “what is your biggest weakness?” I actually asked a few of my friends this question just to see what they would say. They all said something to the effect of, “I’m a perfectionist. I like to make everything too perfect.” Man, I really hope that’s not their actual answer. I seriously hope they were joking with me. That is such a cliched answer. I would roll my eyes and bury my head in my hands if a candidate answered it that way to me.
E[)EpXg Iqx During job interviews I had trouble with this question too, but I figured out how to answer it the correct way: it’s to tell the truth. Besides, the correct answer to most questions is the truth anyway.
$[1C:f5N3uN]z I’m a programmer. When someone asks me that question at a job interview my answer is along the lines of, “I suck at programming in the XYZ language. I wish I was better at it.” That’s it. And they seem to like that answer. 7` hYtU3l*LZy}*h
People will respect you if you tell the truth and are authentic about it. It also shows that you know what your weakness are, and you’re not afraid to show it. It doesn’t show that you’re insecure. It shows confidence with a touch of humility. If you can’t tell them your weakness in an honest way, that means you have insecurity problems. K#rw$`6nK"H+n
So think about your weaknesses. Is it public speaking? Is it not knowing how to use Excel well? Is it communication skills? Whatever it is, just tell them. Don’t do that cliched “perfectionist” answer.
