ARTICLE REVIEW: Are you Prepared for a Candidate's Market?

My congratulations to Dave for an article that points out what so many recruiters already should know. The problem, as I see it, lies in the fact that that few CEO’s will read it and even less will act.

As an example, Dave mentions the candidate experience as being important. I have been beating this drum for years and wonder if there has been even a scintilla of meaningful change. From the stories I hear from candidates, I think not. Has there been some change in some places? Of course but it is very minor and our success will not come from what the minority does; it will come from what the majority does and that is a frightening reality.

,{GsM:^p!v I have always believed that you can learn before something bad happens or after something bad happens. As Americans, we tend to do the later and worse, we tend to forget as time goes on. This is not good and we need to get advice such as Dave’s in front of those people that can make a difference as opposed to those that can simple suggest and hope for the best. Honestly, how important do you think recruiting is to your average CEO? (Lip service; lots. Action; not much)eZ$k%r5c9}_|T

General Motors is an interesting aside as it represents a spot on example of American culture and how we think and operate; with all that is going on in the world with gas prices, Rick Waggoner is still building monster SUV’s to make some short term dollars as opposed to being the leader in creating the brave new world in which we need to move. A recent article in Fortune said that there is a significant chance that GM might have to declare bankruptcy. If that happens, I hope that our government does not step in because funding failure is a catastrophic philosophy and it flies in the face of the mechanics of how business operates and the simple laws of success, failure and the natural results of each outcome. Why do I think that behind closed doors, the leadership of Japanese Automobile Manufacturers are falling all over themselves with laughter on a regular basis.b6U)\}T(\
