“How’s the Market?”
Over at my Yahoo Group, ContractRecruiterJobs, I regularly see messages posted by Contract Recruiters looking for new assignments. The activity throughout the summer (I founded the Group on June 2nd) for new Contract Recruiter jobs had been quite brisk. The Group has grown to almost 800 members in a few short months, and many agencies and companies have posted requirements for Contract Recruiters.

Now, going in to the Fall of the year, I am wondering if we will maintain the momentum in the Market for Contract Recruiters or if hiring is slowing down? It seems like in the example of this one Yahoo Group, there are still a number of positions being posted weekly for Contract Recruiters. However, one Group does not make a “market”. Could we use some other gauge to understand the demand for Contract Recruiters?

I also regularly go to several of the broad job board search engines like Indeed.com to test the market as well for Contract Recruiters in various cities around the U.S. I simply search for “contract recruiter” in several major cities to see how many new positions pop up. It seems like there are many new positions and the hiring flurry for Contract Recruiters continues if you can use this rather unscientific posting level as a gauge?*Er"T%r7[&W

So I’m wondering what the rest of you think is happening in Contract Recruiting at this point? Are companies continuing to support their rapid hiring through Contract Recruiters, or is there a trend towards using Contract employees in this area so as not to commit long term to fulltime employees in the recruiting area? What are you seeing the demand to be for Contract Recruiters in the market today and what is driving the level of demand for this contract approach?
