China: still a country of good credit
According to Horizon Research Group, about 51.2% of the responders to a recent questionnaire survey, which was carried out in 12 cities and rural areas around them, think their neighborhood trustworthy. There is great difference between urban and rural dwellers’ confidence in their neighborhoods, as only 40% of those who live in cities trust the people around them while 57.6% of those in the rural areas do. s,tC.Q]EV[YS

The appreciation of credit in rural areas is a result of an acquaintance-based society there, where every social affair requires interpersonal relations to solve, so it is natural for most of them to trust each other.

However, the surging of skyscraping apartments has isolated neighborhoods, cutting down mutual understanding and dependence. Even the word “neighbor” is disappearing in Chinese cities, no wonder a crisis of confidence is haunting them.
