Is It Time For A Shift In How We Market The Workplace Environment?

One of my colleagues showed me this office video depicting what I call the new workplace environment. The responses to the music video were overwhelming and showed that platforms such as this are great ways to attract talent. Many people were immediately drawn into the fun, creative, light-hearted, and relaxed environment of this particular company. From my perspective, I see why. It simply makes work look fun.

But in order to attract new talent is it time to brand, market, and recruit in a manner that depicts this new workplace environment that many people in general are more attracted to? If you or your employees made a music video portraying the office environment what would it look like? I believe that if most companies today were to create a video such as this they would encompass all the redundant themes that we have seen over the past years, smiling people sitting at their desk, a conference room full of people smiling and watching a presentation, and a manager looking over someone’s shoulder smiling at their outstanding work. These standard images just don’t work as effectively in the marketplace anymore. People want to see fun, passion, collaboration, and expressions of creativity. So, next time you are thinking about improving the impressions of your employment brand use this video as a guide to not only market better but also as a catalyst to assess the appeal of your work environment
